Western Dakota Tech Stormwater Retention Pond

Client Office of The State Engineer
Date July 2024-November 2024

This project focused on expanding an existing retention pond to improve stormwater management for the growing development surrounding the local school. The work required the excavation and placement of approximately 30,000 cubic yards of earth to create additional storage capacity and enhance drainage performance during heavy rain events.

In addition to the earthwork, the project included the installation of 750 feet of 48-inch reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) to efficiently direct runoff throughout the system. Several walking paths were also constructed around and through the drainage area, providing both accessibility for maintenance and recreational use for the community.

The completed project not only supports future development in the area but also contributes to a safer, more sustainable environment for students and residents by reducing flood risk and improving overall site functionality.
